Why does cleanup take hours instead of minutes?+

By design. We could go faster, but that's how accounts get flagged. Our engine mimics natural human behavior — random intervals, pauses, session breaks — so Instagram sees normal activity, not a bot. Think of it as a person manually unsending messages one by one, except it runs while you sleep. The speed is the safety feature.

Do I need to keep my phone or computer on?+

Nope. Everything runs on our servers, 24/7, while you live your life. Close the browser, turn off your phone, go on vacation, sleep, forget we exist. We work in the background and ping you when the Dirt Report is ready — you come back, review, and pick which threads to wipe. Your iPhone does nothing.

Will my Instagram account get banned?+

No. We operate at human speed on purpose. Random delays, respect every rate limit, monitor session health in real-time. If anything looks off, we pause automatically and notify you. Zero bans across thousands of accounts processed.

Is this legal?+

Do you store my Instagram password?+

No. We don't even have a password field. Log into CleanMyAss via Google or email OTP. Instagram is connected via encrypted session tokens — the same way the official app works.

Do you store my messages?+

No. Messages are processed in isolated memory during AI classification, then immediately discarded. We store only the classification result (e.g. 'ghosted thread, 6 messages'). Actual content is never written to disk.

Can I preview what gets deleted?+

Absolutely. The Dirt Report shows DMs, your comments, likes on others' media, and accounts you follow — everything AI found. You approve before any DM is unsent. Unlikes, comment removal, and unfollow are coming soon.

When is my data deleted?+

Instantly — the moment you disconnect, cancel, or request deletion. No 30-day grace period. No 'anonymized retention'. Data destroyed, keys discarded, mathematically unrecoverable.

What if CleanMyAss gets hacked?+

Attackers would find encrypted blobs with per-user keys, zero passwords, zero message content, and session tokens that expire within hours. Nothing useful to steal.
